There are currently two major variations of the sport.
Footballgolf – governed by WFGA (World Footballgolf Association)
Footgolf – governed by FIFG (Federation for International Footgolf)
The basic rules are very similar, the main difference is that in footballgolf you are allowed to “roll” the ball with the sole of the foot, and to “lift” the ball with the foot.
Footgolf is almost always played on a regular golf course, which means that the fairways are wide and precision is not always needed. The main difficulty is usually the fast greens and long distances.
Footballgolf is almost always played on a permanent course specifically designed for footballgolf. The fairways are more narrow than in regular golf, and the game is more about precision. Some footballgolf courses also have obstacles in the form of sticks/tires and other things you need to go through or pass in order to get to the hole. Forced line.
Some footballgolf courses are made for families and kids, and is more like miniature golf.
In Sweden, there are at least two footballgolf courses without built obstacles. They are designed more like a regular golf course, where trees and rough puts you in difficulties: Alunda Fotbollsgolf and Uppsala Fotbollsgolf
Codeball was invented in 1929 by a Chicago doctor named William Edward Code, who developed the game for his friend. At the time, Code’s friend sought an inexpensive outdoor game suited to large playgrounds.
Codeball is played on a fairway consisting of usually 14 bowls, similar to the holes in golf. A six-inch rubber ball is kicked from a marked kickoff area, and once the ball comes to rest, it is kicked again. The process is repeated until the ball is sunk into the bowl. The goal of codeball is to reach the bowl using as few kicks as possible.
Almost forgotten today, the game reached its peak of popularity in the 1930s.
